Meera's Courage Stone
A Tale of Inner Strength and Unexpected Bravery
Once upon a time in a small village nestled between mountains, there lived a young girl named Meera. Unlike other children who played in the sunshine, Meera was afraid of venturing too far from home. Her grandmother had filled her head with tales of dangers lurking in the forest.
One evening, as darkness fell, Meera's little brother Raju developed a high fever. The village healer said she needed a rare herb that grew only on the mountain path, near the old banyan tree. With her parents away at the market town, Meera realized she alone must fetch the herb.
With trembling hands, Meera took a small lamp and stepped out into the darkness. The forest path seemed to stretch endlessly before her, shadows dancing eerily in the lamplight. Every sound—the hoot of an owl, the rustle of leaves—made her heart pound.
Halfway up the mountain path, a strong gust of wind extinguished her lamp. Darkness enveloped her completely. Tears welled up in Meera's eyes as fear gripped her heart.
Just then, she noticed something unusual—a small stone at her feet giving off a faint blue glow. Curious, she picked it up. The stone's glow brightened, illuminating the path ahead. It seemed to pulse with warmth in her palm, as if encouraging her forward.
With newfound courage, Meera continued her journey. When she reached the banyan tree, she found the healing herb growing abundantly. She carefully gathered what she needed and hurried back home.
The herb worked wonders, and by morning, Raju's fever had subsided. When Meera showed everyone the glowing stone, she was surprised to find it was just an ordinary river pebble in daylight.
From that day forward, Meera kept the simple stone in her pocket. Whenever she faced a difficult situation, she would touch it, remembering that strength often appears when we need it most, not before.
Years later, as a grandmother herself, Meera would give special "courage stones" to children in the village, telling them her story and reminding them that true bravery isn't about not feeling fear—it's about moving forward despite it.
